Thursday I substituted for mr van Rensburg (Fanna),
I had one class for the entire day which was grade 5A1. I gave them the following subjects for which mr Fanna had left clear instructions: 2 hours of nature science, 1 hour math ( me and teaching math, can you believe it?!!?! ) 1 hour of human social science and 1 hour of Afrikaans.
The students were totally amazing even though they were a bit busy. At the end of the day they all asked me if I could come and teach them again tomorrow. And when they left the classroom I got a hug from every single one of them.
Friday was another day of playing substitute teacher. This time for mr van Wijk. He teaches human social science to the grade 6 and 7 students. He left clear instructions as to what the students were supposed to be working on.
Saturday we had a birthday party at Elize and Cecil's neighbours, there twins turned 1! And Hugo and me were invited for the celebrations which was ever so kind! We had a wonderful time, Hugo was so sweet and well behaved. All their friends were young married couples with young kids, most were not yet one year of age. The kids all played together and the parents watched their kids play while enjoying a nice glass of Rose wine.
Sunday I went shopping with Felicia Lemmers, Curro's music/ choir teacher. In between shopping we had to drop her son off at home and so w had a bit of wine at her place... After that we went for iced coffee and cake at Cappochino's at I'Langa mall. I had yearned for a piece of sweet cake for weeks but because of my diet I didn't have one. Now that I had cake, I never want it again. My body isn't used to the sugar anymore so it had a very awful effect on body. I couldn't sleep all night because I felt so horrible! My tummy is upset because I put that sweet crap inside. The weird thing is that I'm actually happy that I got sick, because now I won't feel tempted to have such a thing ever again!
Can't wait to see what our next adventure will be :D

Jan Linders:
Hi Veronique,
Apparently you're really becoming 'one of the boys' (er...girls) at your host-school....... you're doing a great job I think, working with various classes and taking over from various colleagues. Too bad about your migraine attacks though - hope this one will be the last... I've never been to South-Africa but I gradually get the impression it should be on my 'to visit'- list... enjoy and take care. Jan P.S. Gentlemen prefer blondes...-:)
